The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund (CMTTF) invites you to join a panel of music therapists, as they bridge the gap between academic research and the transformative power of music, following the screening of the powerful documentary, The Gift of Music: Stories of Music Therapy. JB Music Therapy, a local Calgary company is delighted to sponsor this event. Together, with the CMTTF they hope to engage the general public into a dialogue around music in health care and education and more specifically the role and growth of the profession of music therapy within the Alberta Health Care System.
The Gift of Music is a moving documentary filmed by Scott Rondeau and produced by Hell Creek Entertainment in association with the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund. You will see how individuals overcome by many challenges respond and change during music therapy. Meet a newborn without sight who learns to engage her other senses, a young man from ARBI (Calgary-based Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured) find his voice without speaking a word, and a man who knows his passing is near record a beautiful love song for his wife. The Gift of Music portrays the amazing ways music therapy touches the lives of people of all ages and abilities across Canada.
Calgary Screening: The Plaza, November 25 @ 7:00pm
They’ll Takeover the airwaves & not only spin their favourite songs from their favourite rock bands – they’ll perform live! Be sure to get here early as 10 lucky listeners will get to join us in studio.
